Preservation – future, how to get on board, what has been done

Historic Preservation in Grapevine is not purely a nostalgic look backwards in time. Instead, it is an exciting way for Grapevine to celebrate and promote the foundation of the community and to launch new business ventures and opportunities while protecting its sense of place. Grapevine became a member of the Texas Main Street Program in 1984 and fully embraced its Four Point Approach for Commercial District Revitalization (organization – getting everyone to work on the same goal; promotion – selling a positive image of the community; design – getting historic buildings in top shape and protecting the built environment; and economic diversification – strengthening the community’s existing economic assets and expanding and diversifying the economic base). With the commitment of Grapevine’s Mayor and City Council, and through the hard work of staff and volunteers, in 2006 Grapevine was named a National Main Street City.

Grapevine can point with pride to a spirit of commitment and volunteerism in the community. Volunteers who serve on the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Board of Directors and its committees, and those who serve on the Historic Preservation Commission and the Grapevine Township Revitalization Program board – as well as the thousands of volunteers who work each year to make Main Street Days and GrapeFest a success (proceeds benefit Historic Preservation projects) are always needed, welcomed and at the heart of Historic Preservation in Grapevine.
