Interpretive Plan
Thomas Jefferson Nash purchased 110 acres of farmland in Grapevine in 1859. At first, the family consisting of Thomas and Elizabeth, their six children and his brother William, lived in a log cabin which was later replaced by the current house in about 1870. The Nash family raised an assortment of livestock and crops.
Today, on 5.2 acres in the historic heart of Grapevine at 626 Ball Street, stands the house Thomas built, his barn and the family cemetery. The house retains much of its original structure, and it is in need of complete restoration.
It is the goal of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation to completely restore the house and set it on a new course for the future as an educational facility. It will be a first-class, interactive space that through exhibits and touchable displays will explain the agricultural heritage of the Grape Vine Prairie. Don’t expect to find a “do not touch house museum” here! The Nash Farm will be kid and user friendly…a welcoming spot that says come learn and have a good time while you do!
