#36 - Off the Vine
Father and son, Charles Jackson, Sr. and Charles Jackson, Jr., worked together in the 1940s and 1950s in this building. Each Charlie had a different trade. Charles, Jr. repaired watches in the back, while Charles, Sr. cut hair in the front. One of several shoe shine stands on Main Street was located in this building. The shoe shine man was Frank “Babe” Lanford, who later became Grapevine’s Justice of the Peace.
