#53 - The Edge Apparel

424 S. Main St., Grapevine, TX 76051

In the 1910s through the 1930s, Austin’s Drug Store, which was located here, was the place where residents could catch a ride in a “jitney” (a privately owned touring car) to Fort Worth. Schedules were set and passengers met in front of the store at the “jitney stand.” D. E. Austin’s drugstore was located in the front of the building, and the rear part housed Dr. E. C. Bechtol’s office. He was an early community physician who made house calls in his horse-drawn buggy.
