BLAST OFF FOR SUMMER FUN AT GRAPEVINE’S 8TH ANNUAL SUMMERBLAST MAY 27 - SEPTEMBER 5
Have Some "Dino"-Mite Fun and "Be The Dinosaur:" Travel 65 million years into the past with this ground-breaking cross between video games and traditional dinosaur exhibits. Enjoy the full-sized dinosaur bones, a paleontology field station, as well as the largest and most complex restoration of an extinct ecosystem ever created. Visitors will also be able to see artificially intelligent and scientifically accurate dinosaurs with muscle, nervous, sensory and digestive systems. The interactive stations feature easy to use controls and activities designed specifically for younger visitors and a world-class advisory panel featuring some of the smartest paleontologists and experts in the field of dinosaurs. Tickets are $4 per person. Children 24 months and younger are free. The exhibit will be in the Grand Gallery at 636 S., Main St. and will be open Monday - Friday 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Discover Alice's Adventures in Wonderland at Gaylord Texan Resort's 13th Annual SummerFest: This summer, Gaylord Texan Resort features activities themed after Lewis Carroll's famous story, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Sink Your "Claws" into SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium: Crustaceans from around the world have converged on SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium! The newest exhibit "Claws" features the land crabs, lobsters and even the Japanese spider crab. SEA LIFE is also encouraging visitors to recycle. Working with a local artist, the aquarium has built a hand-crafted crab sculpture made out of recycled soda cans. Hop Aboard the Grapevine Vintage Railroad's T-Rex Express: Travel back to the age of the dinosaurs on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad T-Rex Express. Dinosaur lovers of all ages will experience fun interactive activities and games, all while experiencing travel as it was during the expanding west. Beginning every Friday, from June 3 through July 29, the T-Rex Express will depart the station. at 10 a.m. and will return at 11 a.m. Tickets are $8 for children and $10 for adults. Capture the Great Train Robbers on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad: Travel back in time on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad. These 1920s Victorian-style coaches will transport riders of all ages on this celebrated railroad every Friday, Saturday and Sunday all summer long. Beginning Saturday, May 28 through Labor Day weekend, don't miss the Great Train Robberies on Saturdays and Sundays, as your little deputies can help capture the notorious outlaws that hold up the train. Celebrate Picturing Wonderland: Sir John Tenniel's Illustrations for the Alice Books: Follow the White Rabbit straight to Grapevine's Tower Gallery at 636 S. Main St. Visitors will be able to view several of Sir John Tenniel's illustrations that brilliantly complemented Lewis Carroll's text for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There (1871). Make it a Historic Summer at Grapevine's Nash Farm: Experience life on the 19th century farm just like Grapevine's earliest settlers. Purchased by Thomas Jefferson Nash in 1859, Grapevine's Nash Farm brings history to life through a series of interpretive programs. First Fridays at the Farm highlights different aspects of farm life. Summer First Fridays events include June 3: Crops; July 1: Keeping Cool and August 5: Cotton. All First Fridays at the Farm events are 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. The Frugal Farm Wife series offers programs focusing on the domestic chores of a farm family. Summer dates for the Frugal Farm Wife series are June 17, July 15 and August 19 and sessions are from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Farmhouse on the Grape Vine Prairie follows the stories of Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little House on the Prairie." Make sure to enjoy the session on July 23 on how to make mosquito repellent. This quarterly series is designed for 3rd - 7th grade students, but all ages are welcome.
