Grapevine Welcomes FDNY Rescue 4 Vehicle
Saturday, January 26
WHAT: FDNY (Fire Department of New York) Rescue 4, which responded to the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City on and now serves as a traveling memorial and educational vehicle, will be in Grapevine on Saturday, January 26. The public is invited to come see the truck and learn about and remember the events of that day.
WHEN: Saturday, January 26
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Parking lot at the corner of Main and East Franklin Streets, across from Willhoite's, in Historic Downtown Grapevine
WHY: On September 11, 2001, FDNY Rescue 4 responded to the attacks on the World Trade Center. All of the responders on the vehicle were killed in the collapse of the first tower. Now one of two rescue trucks that are on tour in the U.S., FDNY Rescue 4 is part of the Rescue Remembrance Project, an educational effort aimed at those too young to remember the events of that tragic day as well as commemorating what September 11 means to fire service across the United States. The Rescue Remembrance Project operated by firefighters across the country volunteering their time and is a non-profit entity, raising funds solely through donations and sales of t-shirts, caps and decals.
