GEORGE LOUIS BLEVINS HOUSE

This house was built for George Louis Blevins in 1903 on eighty acres of land purchased from Dr. Tom Dorris in 1897. George and his wife Laura Ann (Johnson) Blevins raised their family there. The one and one half story house is designed in the Queen-Anne style.

The Grapevine Township Revitalization Project, Inc. program saved and moved the house to the Grapevine Historic Township to serve as a single family home. The L-shaped plan house with handsome curved porch was relocated to the corner of Wall and Dooley at 428 E Wall Street, legally described as Lot 6R, G. E. Hurst Subdivision.  This 2,544 sq. ft. home has 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. The corner lot is 10,038 square feet in size. The house is positioned to face Wall Street thereby serving as an attractive end cap to the homes on Wall Street and entry at Dooley Street to the Grapevine Historic Township.

The house contains a central entrance hall with original staircase, a large living room, dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor and several rooms and a bathroom on the second floor.
