Celebrate fall on Saturday, October 14 with family-friendly fun at the 17th Annual Fall Round-Up. Admission is free and the event is a gourd time for the entire family. The 17th Annual Fall Round-Up will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Nash Farm.
Children and adults alike will enjoy experiencing Grapevine’s Historic Nash Farm and learning what life was like when the city’s earliest settlers made their home in Grapevine. Interactive activities include a pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, pony rides, tractor-drawn wagon rides, cooking demonstrations, live music and a make your own apple pie station (staff assisted). Some activities require a small fee. Beans, cornbread and other farm favorites will be available for purchase.
New for 2017: This year’s theme will be an old-fashioned county fair with lots of traditional carnival games and competitions and races such as bucket brigade races, three-legged races and cake walks. Come enjoy an Agirculture Expositon featuring wood working demonstrations, a wagon and sign painter and produce. Don’t miss the Animal Exhibit showcasing heritage chickens, sheep, turkeys and other farm animals. The Farmers’ Institute will also be on the East Lawn to give short, educational presentations on 19th century agricultural topics. Make sure to shop at the new Farm General Store, stocked with reproductions of 1880s games, toys and household goods.
Nash Farm, circa 1859, is the oldest operating farmstead in Tarrant County. Through interpretive programs, events and exhibits, Nash Farm educates the community about the heritage and importance of the Grape Vine Prairie and Grapevine’s pivotal role in the development of North Texas. A variety of programs throughout the year including the Barn Dance, First Fridays at the Farm, Heritage Workshops, Special Events, the Annual Spring Into Nash and Farm to Fork Supper offer guests intriguing and unique learning experiences in a historic setting.
Also happening on October 14 will be the 20th Annual Butterfly Flutterby at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens, 411 Ball St. from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Nash Farm will be holding a special butterfly release at 1:30 p.m. Additional butterfly releases will take place at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens at 10:55 a.m., 11:55 a.m. and 12:35 p.m.
