ABOUT THE FINGER LAKES REGION
The Finger Lakes Region of New York boasts 11,000 acres of vineyards, where approximately 165,000 tons of grapes are grown annually at more than 100 wineries. The deep lakes and rich soil of the Finger Lakes help produce some of the nation's best Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. 142 million of bottles are produced each year in the region, making it New York's largest wine producing region. The region gets its name from the group of 11 long, narrow lakes that reminded early map-makers of human fingers. The Cayuga and Seneca lakes are among the deepest in the United States.
