Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites™, presented by Target, was created by the Minnesota Children’s Museum using a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to create an exhibit that was early literacy based and nurtured creativity and imagination in its visitors.

The Storyland exhibit contains scenes from favorite picture books, including:

  • The Tale of Peter Rabbit
  • The Snowy Day
  • Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
  • Abuela
  • If You Give a Mouse a Cookie
  • Tuesday
  • Where’s Spot?

Other interactive parts normally include:

  • Writing and Drawing Stations - closed at this time
  • Greetings from Storyland E-Postcard Station - closed at this time
  • Word Play Station in the Greetings from Storyland area - located in the Tuesday section of the exhibit

Storyland highlights and engages the six pre-reading skills identified by the Public Library Association and Association for Library Service to Children: disposition to read, print awareness, letter knowledge, sound awareness, vocabulary, and narrative skills and comprehension.

Our Commitment to You

Dear Storyland Visitors:

We want to inform you of steps we have taken to ensure a safe visit to Storyland, A Trip through Childhood Favorites™.

We are constantly reviewing and following the latest Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance for cleaning and disinfecting public spaces.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/pdf/Reopening_America_Guidance.pdf

Here is how we are addressing health and safety concerns for our guests and staff as we re-open our doors.

  • Employees will immediately wash hands upon entering the building, sanitize as necessary with guest interactions and at the end of each session.

  • We have sectioned off the exhibit into three (3) zones to maintain social distancing between parties as well as provided waiting areas that follow social distancing.

  • When it is your time to enter Storyland, our staff will guide you into the zones in an orderly fashion.

  • Our staff will wear a mask covering their mouth and nose while interacting with guests.

  • As safely as possible, staff will interact with guests with keeping social distancing of six (6) feet apart in mind.

  • Staff will disinfect toys, objects, supplies and surfaces throughout the day.

  • All soft parts and toys in the exhibit have been removed and replaced with hard easy-to-sanitize surfaces.

  • We will provide disposable gloves for your use.

Here is what we're asking of our guests in order to help keep everyone safe:

  • If any guest has experienced flu-like symptoms or has been around anyone who has been sick or tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 14 days, we ask that you to plan to visit after being symptom-free or having distanced from those ill for 14 days.

  • Pre-book a limited capacity session in advance online.

  • All guests will be asked to use hand sanitizer, provided by our staff, prior to entering the exhibit and throughout each station as necessary.

  • Please stay within your zone until instructed by a gallery attendant to move to the next zone.

  • Adult guests are encouraged to help bring attention to any items of concern.

  • Adult guests are encouraged to practice social distancing whenever possible.

  • Wear facial coverings when possible.

  • Please do not bring food or drink into the exhibit

Thank you for your cooperation and support!
