Grapevine Vintage Railroad

Special Alert: Puffy the 1896 steam locomotive is currently out of service for its 15 year inspection. While Puffy is out, our 1953 diesel locomotive, Vinny, will be used for regularly scheduled excursions.

Please note: The Grapevine Vintage Railroad will operate over festival dates of Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22, 2016. Parking and overall demand within Historic Downtown Grapevine and the Cotton Belt Depot are increased during this time, so please plan accordingly to ensure you have enough time to park and catch your excursion. During Main Street Fest, follow the signs to designated parking areas throughout Grapevine.

Great Train Robberies - Saturdays and Sundays - May 28 - September 3

As the train departs Grapevine and heads towards Fort Worth, the train is stopped by train robbers. Your little deputies on board can help capture the notorious outlaws and let the train continue on its way.

Round Trip Grapevine to the Historic Stockyards

The train to the Stockyards operates Saturday and Sunday most weekends throughout the year, in addition to Mondays, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Columbus Day.

The train departs Grapevine at 1 p.m. and arrives in the Stockyards at approximately 2:20 p.m. The return trip departs the Stockyards at 4:15 p.m. and arrives in Grapevine at approximately 5:45 p.m.

Stockyards Trinity River Ride

The Stockyards Trinity River Ride is scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays from February 13 through May 29 and August 27 through November 20.  The train operates Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from June 3 - August 21. In addition to Mondays, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Columbus Day.  

Grapevine Fun Trains - Friday & Saturday

The Grapevine fun trains are a one hour excursion departing Grapevine on Fridays at 10 a.m. during the months of June and July and, on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. during the months of February, March, April, May, September, October and November. There are no Fun Trains operating in August.

Christmas Wine Trains - December 1, 8 & 15

This favorite seasonal event is a festive Christmas event for grown-ups. Each train will feature one Grapevine winery. Hors d'oeuvres will also be served. Additional wine will be available for purchase. Buy your tickets early as these train experiences sell out quickly. Riders must be 21 and over.

The railroad is serviced by two locomotives, including "Puffy" the 1896 steam locomotive, the oldest continuously operating steam engine in the South and "Vinny," a 1953 GP-7 diesel locomotive.

Note: Due to mechanical requirements, engine and equipment changes may occur without notice. The 1896 steam locomotive, "Puffy," is currently out of service until it has completed its 15 year inspection. The 1953 diesel locomotive, "Vinny," is used for the regularly scheduled weekly service.
