Are you looking for a quick summer getaway the entire family will enjoy? Then why not head to Grapevine, which was just voted Best Destination for Families in this year’s Texas Travel Awards! There’s no shortage of things to do from historic experiences, to yummy eats and fun attractions the whole family will love.
Experience world-class shopping at Grapevine Mills and take your family on an immersive and interactive art experience at the brand-new Meow Wolf Grapevine. There’s also the LEGOLAND Discovery Center where kids can create countless designs while also exploring some incredible professional creations. Grapevine is also home to SEA LIFE GRAPEVINE which lets your family explore animals under the sea, including live interaction with endangered sea turtles.
Has the summer heat got you down? Find some relief at Paradise Springs at the Gaylord Texan Resort. The massive water park features a 10-acre outdoor pool, 600-foot lazy river and four waterslides. You can also check out the 80,000 square foot indoor water park at Great Wolf Lodge which includes a lazy river and numerous winding water slides. Or head out to Lake Grapevine where the family can enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding, jet skis and the WhoaZone featuring an action-packed, floating obstacle course.
Don’t forget about the very walkable Historic Main Street which gives you the opportunity to explore locally owned shops, galleries and restaurants. While strolling the beautiful downtown area, you can cool off at Hip Pop with a variety of popsicles, slushies and shaved ice. Or you can head to Buzzed Ball Creamery which uses liquid nitrogen to create premium ice creams and milkshakes. Parents can enjoy alcohol-infused creations at both locations.
Take your family on a trip back in time! The Grapevine Vintage Railroad has classic 1920s era coaches where you can experience the Great Grapevine Train Heist – a live show performed on every train car – but make sure you keep an eye out for Mustang Jones, we hear he’s up to no good!
You can also take your family on a time traveling adventure by exploring the roots of Grapevine at the 19th-century historic Nash Farm. There you’ll find hands-on activities such as making dolls, marbles, fishing rods and even show your kids how clothes were washed back in the “olden days.” There are also special events throughout the year including vintage baseball games, ice cream socials, barn dances and more.
Worried about getting around? We’ve got that covered too! Grapevine has a complimentary Visitor Shuttle with three routes to help your family explore the city. And with 23 hotels in the area it’s easy to get away without having to plan your trip months in advance.
