Tate will mark 50 years in office in May 2026 – becoming the longest-serving mayor in Texas history and one of the longest serving in the United States of America. During five decades of steady leadership, he has guided Grapevine through many transformational milestones, shaping the once-farming community into an internationally recognized corporate and leisure destination with national and international headquarters, resorts and hotels, attractions, shopping, dining and wineries that welcomes more than 12 million visitors each year.
The Golden Jubilee celebration will kick off during the 42nd Annual Main Street Fest – A Timeless Texas Tradition presented by Bank of the West on May 15, 16 & 17, and continues throughout the year with events that conclude in May 2027.

Friday, May 15:
Texas Wine Tribute Gala
6:30 p.m.
CVB Grand Hall
Opening Gala, and host of the Tall in Texas award, recognizing 50 years of leadership with special dignitaries in attendance.

Saturday, May 16:
Mayor's Public Art Dedication
11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Between City Hall, Palace Theatre
Grapevine's previous and current Festival Chairs and Volunteers gift a statue to Mayor William D. Tate next to City Hall honoring his 50 years of service to Grapevine citizens. Everyone is invited to attend.

Sunday, May 17:
Golden Jubilee Community Picnic
Noon - 1:30 p.m.
Main Stage
Everyone receives free admission to Main Street Fest on Sunday before 1:30 p.m. to mark the actual day of Mayor Tate’s 50 years of service with music and entertainment from around the world, along with a free community picnic.
Ride Grapevine Vintage Railroad’s Golden Jubilee Express Trains during Main Street Fest. In honor of Mayor Tate, enjoy a special ride for $5 per person or $20 for a group of four or more! This 22-minute Golden Jubilee train excursion recognizes Mayor Tate’s lasting impact on Grapevine Vintage Railroad and heritage programs in Grapevine.
In addition to celebrations at Main Street Fest, there will also be a celebration at GrapeFest® and the July 4th America 250 Fireworks Show will be dedicated to Mayor Tate's 50 years of service. Additional details and event updates will be announced in the weeks and months to come.
