Mayor William D. Tate's Golden Jubilee Celebration
Grapevine’s Honorable Mayor William D. Tate marked 50 years in office in May 2026 – becoming the longest-serving mayor in Texas history and one of the longest serving in the United States of America. During five decades of steady leadership, he has guided Grapevine through many transformational milestones, shaping the once-farming community into an internationally recognized corporate and leisure destination with national and international headquarters, resorts and hotels, attractions, shopping, dining and wineries that welcomes more than 12 million visitors each year.
The Golden Jubilee celebration kicked off during the 42nd Annual Main Street Fest – A Timeless Texas Tradition presented by Bank of the West in May, and will continue throughout the year with events that conclude in May 2027.
A new exhibit called “Heritage to World Class: Mayor Tate’s 50 Year Legacy” was unveiled the Saturday of Main Street Fest to honor Mayor William D. Tate’s Golden Jubilee year. Get a look at rarely displayed, treasured Tate family artifacts, historic mementos from Grapevine’s International Sister Cities and large murals showcasing Grapevine’s successes under his leadership. The exhibit is free and open to the public and runs through Monday, June 1.
Hop & Sting Brewing Company is offering the Sir William English-Style Brown Ale. It was originally named by Jon Powell when he was the lead brewer of Grapevine Craft Brewery. The beer was named in honor of Mayor Tate’s long residency in the Mayor’s Office.
In addition to celebrations at Main Street Fest, there will also be a celebration at GrapeFest® and the July 4th America 250 Golden Jubilee Fireworks Show will be dedicated to Mayor Tate's 50 years of service and have an enhanced fireworks finale. Additional details and event updates will be announced in the weeks and months to come.
