Below are pictures and descriptions of the types of train cars currently available for passengers.
First Class Coaches
Grapevine Vintage Railroad's four 1925 day coaches were originally procured from the Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania. These coaches harken back to the golden age of travel with interiors reminiscent of circa 1908: plush new upholstery, polished wooden trim and doors, period-style light fixtures, brass accents, art glass clerestory windows and genteel window shades.
Each coach accommodates up to 70 guests, thanks to walkover (bi-directional) seating designed for both comfort and conversation. For added convenience, each car is appointed with air-conditioning, ceiling fans and a complete water closet. These timeless beauties joined the line in January 1992.
Touring and Economy Coaches
Constructed in 1927 by the American Car Foundry for the Wabash Railroad, Coaches 1808 and 1818 later found new life after being acquired from the Smoky Hill Railway Museum in Missouri. Their styling closely mirrors that of the day coaches, though they feature charming arched openings along the car sides, complete with wrought iron railings that ensure both airiness and passenger safety.
Each coach has a full-service bar, and both are furnished with padded bench seating. The touring coach received the modern luxury of air-conditioning in 2020. Meanwhile, the economy coach retains its open-air appeal during the warmer months, offering breezy views and the sensation of unhurried travel. In cooler seasons, the windows are refitted and heat is provided to ensure passenger comfort. These classic coaches began service in September 1993.
